[ TRIBUTES TO THE SEXY GOD ]
[ They say where there is smoke, there is fire, and happily, despite the spat of unusual occurrences lately, this has not stopped being true; there is a large column of smoke rising from somewhere off in the trees, and should you pursue it, you will find a large clearing with a roaring fire. A makeshift altar has been built in front of it, and even the nearby animals seem drawn to the flame.
The altar is sacrificing a large wooden heart, crudely carved from wood, and slowly burning. The smoke is also thicker than it ought to be, and if you breathe it in, you may begin to feel a little lightheaded.
As you examine the altar, or even as you head back to the mansion, your thoughts may involuntarily begin to change. Anxiety and homesickness melt away, leaving you desiring company. What this means may be different for the individual, but it is more or less a unified sensation of craving a companion for the evening. Whether you just want to have someone there, or hold them, or perhaps more than that...
Any way you cut it, the sexy god should be appeased. ]

She sighs and stands up. No sense in letting an opportunity like this go to waste...]

At last, a sign of some basic civilization. And what a cute heart on top. I, Elgala, wonder who made it...
no subject
You really feel the need to announce your name like that?
no subject
I, Elgala, must enunciate each word, to ensure my opinion is understood.

What... what's goin on with me?
[It was a foreign feeling, one that only took seconds to turn into a... very comforting sensation. Almost like a much needed warm shower after a cold day. The Replica bunched his shoulders up and ran a hand through his hair - he felt... warm. Warm and something else that he couldn't put his finger on. So he turned back to the creepy-burning-wooden-heart just like a moth to a flame, and hovered around.]

Hey! You there, the punk with the hair! How would you like to bodyguard the most beautiful and fearsome gunslinger in the world?

But she feels content, even though the fire had made her wary, reminding her of more unpleasant things and people, and she'd decided to keep her distance. She can't seem to help but smile though. Maybe she could start over here. Truly start over. She liked this idea. She just needed to find someone, or more than one someone, who would accept her. She couldn't stat over and be alone could she? No, she was too good for that.]

He'd stared at the burning heart for several minutes before trying to look that up as well, but he didn't have enough keywords to really narrow down the search. None the less, he felt lonely. Both the same and different kind of lonely he'd felt since arriving. He missed Shotaro. He would always miss Shotaro. But, in a strange turn of events, he also found himself wanting to be near people he'd met here.
He wasn't sure why this was. Maybe Shotaro's sociability had begun rubbing off on him since his return. Or maybe he was just so used to having at least one person constantly with him. He didn't want to replace Shotaro, but he just wanted to be able to rely on someone. Have someone rely on him.]

Her thoughts drifted. Worried about trouble here were replaced with relief that she and Rukia were so far from the troubles of home. They were safe here. The people seemed.. ultimately good? They would have friends. Rukia would have friends. Shirayuki found herself wanting people around her too. Odd, given that her only real company had ever been Rukia and others of her kind. And she'd never been particularly needy to be around them. But now she wanted to. Not so much them, but the people here. She wanted to learn about them. Understand them.]

What she did know is that the smoke was making her dizzy, and she's forced to lean against a tree, one hand pressed against her chest. A-Ah.. this feeling..]
I-Is this .. another trick?

And in his excitement over this, he pretty much forgot the mental note he'd made about not touching her -- since it had upset her last time -- and set his book aside on a rock to hug her.]
It's you again!
[In the back of his mind he knew it was an odd thing to do. Maybe it was Akiko's influence. She hugged everyone a lot. Then a gain, other than Terui, all of his friends didn't seem to have hesitations about that sort of thing.]

She hadn't realized it until she saw the heart burning, and then it hit her in a wave. What nonsense. Lonely? How could she be? She'd been on her own much longer than this and had done just fine! Still, with the smoke and the other people gathered - she wanted to find someone. She wanted to talk with someone a while, and see if she was better for the connection.
Was that silly?]

You alone out here?
[Most people saying that would sound threatening or predatory. Under the circumstances, Hilda manages to make it sound concerned.]

Wet and cold, she had seen the smoke and made her way to the fire. Chell hung back in the trees, not quite yet ready to meet another person or, by the looks of the individuals around the tree, creature.
She had been so long without real companionship, Chell was rather used to being alone, in a sense. Sure, she and Wheatley had talked to her, but considering the events in her past, Chell hardly counted them.
Still, it would be nice to be closer to the fire, but this would do for now. Chell sat on the grass beneath one of the trees and started unbuckling one of her boots. She had to get the sand out, it was starting to drive her crazy.]

More and more people keep turning up... how interesting. Maybe this situation isn't the same after all...

Once he reached the clearing, he glanced at the altar uneasily - burning something in the shape of a heart is kinda creepy, after all.
...Yet, somehow, it was comforting. Aichi decided to sit down on a nearby log, and pass some time looking through his card deck.]
