second dream

[rusting]

I slept for a while, it seems. No dreams at all, though.

[Well, if it isn't Sabitsuki. She's walking around the island as she talks, circles under her bright red eyes darker than ever. As she speaks, she trails her steel pipe behind her, wich occasionally gives off a soft bong when it hits a tree root or rock.]

I know I've missed a lot, but the island seems just the same as ever. It never changes... Once in a while, I'd like it to change. I don't like seeing the same things all the time, running into the same trees and the same rocks and the same water...

Sometimes I think it's too peaceful, really. Like that story about people living on a nice island that turns out to be the back of a large sea monster.

[And she pauses, frowning.]

I mean, I don't get it. You're all so happy. But maybe...maybe that's how this place and the people behind it want us to feel. Because one day, when we least expect it, the sea monster will come out and eat us all...and we'll just smile at it like idiots because of how much we've gotten used to living a comfortable life.

...I won't have any of that.

[She clenches the pipe harder, eyes narrowing. No. No. He was hers, and he didn't have any right to bother Madotsuki or Urotsuki or anybody else. She grits her teeth.]


He will no longer be watching you when I'm through with him...this will end now, Madotsuki. I'll make sure it does.

It's almost as if he wants into my dreams.

Whoa, a sea monster? Like Puff the Magic Dragon or like, one of those squid things from bad old movies, or like Godzilla or something?

Wait, is Puff even a sea monster? No, he's just a dragon. So, wait, we're on Godzilla's back?

[Yakui stamps her foot on the ground raucously]

Ooooi, atomic lizard-breath, you're supposed to be defending Japan! Wake up!

Hahahaha! People keep saying that. Wonder why.

Because you are. That's why. You're...off. Not that I mind too much. I see weird things all the time.

[Yeah, Yakui's the sort of person who'd feel right at home in one of the dreamgirls' heads.]

Good for you. I dream them, though. Which is different than being on drugs.

Really? [Well. Isn't sure how to react to that, but hey.]

Dreaming's pretty cool, too! Sometimes when I pass out I have these really weird dreams like I'm at the bottom of the ocean, and then I wake up face down in a river. It's pretty crazy. Heh.

[She gives a dazed laugh, either nodding or swaying vacantly.]

Sure! Your hair looks like a sheep. Heheheh.

...A change of pace would be good. Staying in the same place for too long gets boring.

[Dude, she's lived her life like that. Habits are hard to break when you've got a rage monster hidden inside of you that could break out when you'd least suspect it.]

It does. Sometimes it's necessary, yes, like staying in a room...but one needs to branch out, somehow.

Mm. [She gives a small nod in agreement. There's a slight pause before she suddenly speaks up again, sounding thoughtful.]

...Maybe a train to ride around in would be nice. [A rather random thought, but hey, if you can talk about sea monsters, why can't we think about trains. Even if that is slightly more impractical since this is an island we're stuck on...]

[rusting]

A train would be nice, I guess...[She realizes the impracticality of it, but hey, anything is better than this same old thing all over again.]

How would it work, though? Built over the water, maybe?

Yeah, maybe... [Wasn't there a movie that had a train that drove over the water?] It would be something interesting to do at least.

[apparently the 'smile like idiots' comment can summon smiling idiots. however, Smile is sticking to text for this. the figment doesn't want her to know he's technically breaking his promise to stay away.]

[She tries her best to quell the sudden feelings stirring up in her at the message, but even so, it's hard to stay calm when she knows what he's done to her friend.]

I can't live a comfortable life. It rejects me. Kind of like a bacteria in the human body. It's not as much as me not wanting it as me not being able to live it. But enough of that.

Lay off her. You're mine. Not hers. Stay away if you know what's good for you.

Two out of the three places are peaceful. The school is only as violent as you want it to be.
