[Something pinched at the back of his eyes and he looked at the ground as his shoulders trembled.]

[She can't really think less of him. She's reminded all too much of Ganju and part of her is really worried about what will happen when he finds out.

He'd already had to watch the fight between her and Kaien over the fact that she wasn't going to let Kaien come help fight the hollow that killed his wife. They hadn't exactly parted on the kindest words... It made her chest ache to think about all of it.

She seems to snap out of it when he mentions her missing arm and forces a grin.]

[She lifts her hand off of his shoulder and pats the hilt of the sword tied to what's left of her other arm.]

This idiot's just a little temperamental, and when I was learning to use here, there was an accident. That's all.

Even with only one arm, I'm no less of a badass!

[Not going to mention that at the time of said "accident" she was very hung over.]

[He manages a weak smile. She surely wasn't one to let things keep her down.]

[She raises an eyebrows as he has to correct himself on his own name, but that gets completely pushed aside as he calls her "Miss Shiba".]

Woah woah. None of that. Just 'Kukaku', okay? I'm not really comfortable with formalities.

Oh, I'm sorry. I can just call you mi--ah, Kukaku then? [He would have to get used to it, but he had no problem with that. It was her name, after all.]

Yeah. Just Kukaku's fine. I mean if I'm calling you by your first name it's only right you get to do the same.

Plus I get enough of people calling me all formal at home. It'll be nice to get away from that for a while.

Anyway, there's plenty of space. Tons of these houses around. Most are pretty empty, but if that's not your thing, there's plenty of space whee me and Ru and that sword of hers are staying. Big place for just the group of us, so you can crash there if you can't find anywhere else.

[She can't very well leave this kid out in the cold to fend for himself.]
