[1ST DANCE] - Displaced

[Shirayuki has been spending a lot of time outside now that the snow has fallen. The wildlife doesn't seem pleased about it and all the birds she's come into contact with have done nothing but squawk irritably over it. It makes sense, she supposes, if it's not supposed to be this cold here. But she is very much enjoying it. It reminds her of home...

But even so, her situation is rather peculiar, and still she's not fully sure what to make of it. There are, at minimum, at least three other shinigami here, and their zanpakuto have not been separated from them. None at all. Only her. Why her? What made her special?

Maybe it was because it was possible with her. She had been unglued from Rukia before. Maybe it was simply just not possible with the others. Those bonds had never been severed as hers and Rukia's had. Maybe that's all the reason there was...

Shirayuki couldn't be sure. She was still bothered by it none the less, and she was dealing with that on top of various sources of guilt and the compulsive need to protect her master, even when they were separated like this.

She rest her face in one hand. She was getting a headache.]

...Perhaps a vacation from all of that fighting and worrying will do me some good.

They merely sleep. That is what things do in the winter. They sleep. When warmth returns, they will awaken.

Actually, as much as I like this weather, I am a bit excited for it myself. I have never seen a world in full bloom.

Oh, I think you will really like it. The trees and plants look much better in the warmer weather. Of course, [he gently places a hand on a nearby tree with snow covering most of it] I'll be happy to aid in the growth of them if I need to.

Oh, I'm sorry. You see, I can control the growth of botanical things like plants. I can also use them for...fighting but, [he clutches his shirt near his chest] I prefer to avoid that. My dad didn't like me using my alchemy, though.

...What is "alchemy"?

It is a well-known kind of science in my world in which matter can be changed by using a form of energy. In alchemy, we call them transmutations, and by understanding the properties that something is made of you can alter it or even produce a new material. There are different kinds of alchemists where I'm from, but my brother and I are mainly skilled in plant-based alchemy.

[He stops himself suddenly] I-I'm sorry, I'm just rambling. I didn't mean to make such a long explanation.

[She frowns slightly as he stops, seeming disappointed that he cut himself off like that.]

No no... This is fascinating. There are sciences in Soul Society but I do not think it is anything like that.

If there were other more skilled alchemists around, they could give a better explanation.

But, we have to use a medium in order to transmute anything. We also can't get involved with the dead as you can. There are laws against it.

Yes well.. We aren't really supposed to get involved with the living if we can avoid it. They are two things that really should remain separate.

Yes... Whatever it is Rukia-sama faces, I am willing to stand beside her. Even if it means residing within a human for a while.
