HAPPY NEW YEAR'S AND A MERRY CHRISTMAS

[ Best wishes from Bermuda Isle!

A number of booths have sprung up near the shoreline, enticing you to don yourself in the colorful festive garb of a true Bermuda native! Unwind from your day and come out to see what's offered. ♥ There are all sorts of delicious foods and snacks, and plenty of souvenirs. It's time to ring in the New Year of 2012! Lanterns have been strung up, and the snow seems to have stopped. In fact, no snow is to be seen near the site of the festival itself. Oddly, the booths are all run by strange black goatlike creatures in finely tailored suits...

The catch is, unless you sneak in, you have to come with a friend or a date! So find someone to go in with you! ♥ You may even catch a glimpse of Eureka as she wanders the festival... ]

[He doesn't seem all that impressed. He takes the book from under his arm and starts flipping through pages -- pages that are completely blank. Yet his eyes scan over them as if there were in fact something there to read.]

Then you already know we're being held captive by the Witch of Opportunity at latitude-longitude roughly 32° 20'N, 64° 45'W, in the center of the Bermuda Triangle, and that we're nowhere near the proper climate for all of this snow.

[There's a brief pause of tension in the air where Querla just stares straight with a blank expression at the man. Her scanner makes high-pitched noises that interrupt the atmosphere, and Querla looks to it, a tiny bit thankful for the device's intrusion.] Ah. It is complete. [She looks over the Interlac-coded readings and looks down the numbers.

Then her shoulders freeze.]

This is not possible...

[identity profile] riderpedia.insanejournal.com 2011-12-29 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
There are many things that seem like they aren't possible.

[He flips a page in the book, pausing and frowning at some bold, handwritten kanji on a page int he middle of the book before turning the page again.]

But to discount the possibility of anything causes very drastic limitations and in a situation like this that can be incredibly hazardous.

[identity profile] coluan.insanejournal.com 2011-12-29 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Querla turns sharply towards Philip, frowning.] That may be so for you and many others, but I am a creature of logic and reason. And logically, where I am standing right now, should not even exist. [She moves over her scanner, glaring at the bright numbers atop the screen.] These readings are far too disorganized in their places. The sensors are far too high from their points of origin. It is not natural.

[identity profile] riderpedia.insanejournal.com 2011-12-29 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
I'm fairly certain I already mentioned that this place is governed by a witch. Once you start factoring in magic and the supernatural into an equation, using standard logic and rationality will only cause frustration.

Unfortunately getting information that is painfully slow since she seems to have blocked an extensive amount of my access to this world's bookshelves.

[He pauses, remembering back to when he was able to actually unlock a few entries.]

...Though with proper keywords, I seem to be able to trump her access...

If that "scanner" of yours can raise the right questions, I may be able to get answers.

[identity profile] coluan.insanejournal.com 2011-12-29 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Excuse me? [Querla scowls.] There is no such thing as magic. There is only irrational, illogical happenstance that forms in the guise of magosh, which, by the way, were mostly used to terrorize and torture ill-minded people in the ancient days.

[Her face flushes dark green. Oh how Querla hates magic. The very word irritates her. Almost as much as a cockroach!]

But.. [She looks Philip up in down.] You seem to be a man of rationality. Can you really answer my questions?

[identity profile] riderpedia.insanejournal.com 2011-12-29 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Personally I'm not fond of it either, but with what I've gathered there's definitely something outside of the realm of the science I'm used to
going on here. And given that we've got snow in Bermuda I'm willing to run with the theory for the time being, since it coincides with what little information I've been able to gain access to.

I can try. As I've said, Lady Eureka has, somehow, managed to limit my access to the Planetary Bookshelves. So my information on her and what she can do, as well as this place, is fairly limited. But I'm working as fast as I can with the help of some others.

But provided with proper Keywords, I can give whatever information I can access.

[identity profile] coluan.insanejournal.com 2011-12-29 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
[Querla still doesn't like the idea, but the sway of Philip's rational speech manages to mollify some of her irritations.] For now.

[Her brow arches at the mention of 'Planetary Bookshelves'. What could he mean by that? She peers over her folded arms to look at the tome held so precariously in Philip's hands.]

What network do you have access to that could provide you with that kind of data just at the touch of your fingertips?

[identity profile] riderpedia.insanejournal.com 2011-12-29 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
A more rational explanation would be my first choice, but at current I don't have one.

[He turns a page, scan is over, and then looks up from the book with a completely calm smile.]

The world itself.

[identity profile] coluan.insanejournal.com 2011-12-29 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[Querla gives Philip a disbelieving look.]

The world?

[identity profile] riderpedia.insanejournal.com 2011-12-29 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Frankly, I'm surprised I can still access it here... Or at all, though there are logical possibilities for that...

But I have the potential to have access to all of the information that this world has to offer. This includes entries that I had access to at home, and information brought by others along with the information of this world.

But, as I said, entries not from my own world seem to have been locked.

[identity profile] coluan.insanejournal.com 2011-12-29 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
And how did you obtain this?

[identity profile] riderpedia.insanejournal.com 2011-12-29 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
For the majority of my life, I was part of that data. May body was fabricated from it, and because of that, I was able to access the Planetary Bookshelves. My body is, now, real. But because of how that came to be, I suppose I still have access.

[He's gone a bit more solemn while talking about it. He'd only been "alive" again a short time before he woke up here, and he's worried about people back home.]

[identity profile] coluan.insanejournal.com 2011-12-29 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[Querla folds her arm. She's a bit unsure how to address Philip's words. She looks him over with a quick scan from head to toe, and surmises that Philip does not look inane or mentally-issued.]

Data made in sentient flesh? And you are still able to connect to your main database?

[identity profile] riderpedia.insanejournal.com 2011-12-29 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not fully sure how to explain it without a long-winded explanation... I was by young when I first died and was recreated.

I am still able to connect to the Planetary Bookshelves, and I still have significant access... But without Keywords, it is difficult to sort through what I am able to access.

[identity profile] coluan.insanejournal.com 2011-12-30 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Querla lightens her expression from critical inquisitiveness to soft curiosity.] That must have been an interesting experience. [She looks to the book once more.] Do the keywords have to be exact?

[identity profile] riderpedia.insanejournal.com 2011-12-30 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
My memories of everything before the past three years are... fuzzy at best. But that time does not matter much to me. It's what I do remember that is important, and why I need to find a way home.

[He shakes his head, looking to the book briefly, then back to her.]

The more specific the better, but general terms are also acceptable. One might lead to another. Any knowledge is better than none.

[identity profile] coluan.insanejournal.com 2011-12-30 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
I concur. [Querla looks at Philip with the respect Querla shows to a rational man of knowledge.] I suppose introductions are in order before I venture any further into your knowledge. [She stands straight, feet together, stoic and stern.] Querla Dox of the Brainiac linage, at your acquaintance.

[identity profile] riderpedia.insanejournal.com 2011-12-30 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
[Philip remains relaxed, if only because he doesn't know how to be any other way, but he clearly regards her with respect, closing the book and tucking it back under his left arm, extending his right hand.]

Philip, the right half of Kamen Rider Double, and the research section of the Narumi Detective Agency. A pleasure to meet you.

[identity profile] coluan.insanejournal.com 2011-12-30 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed, Detective Philip. [Awkward awkward. Formalities are Querla's escape from any further connections. She puts out her hands and takes his in hers, and then gives it a firm shake.]

[identity profile] riderpedia.insanejournal.com 2011-12-30 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Just "Philip" is fine.

[He shakes her hand and then releases it.]

I don't think we're even legally licensed as detectives, though we have some friends in the police department, and we are good at what we do.

But I would rather just go by names than titles.

[identity profile] coluan.insanejournal.com 2011-12-30 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
As you wish.

[Querla glances down at her hand. Truth be told, she honestly doesn't make any physical contact with many people. Back home, not many people had wanted to shake the hand of the descendant of Brainiac, and as she'd grown, she'd learned to keep her appendages close to her body to discourage any ideas.]

I am part of a team of misfits--and I say that as politely as possible--who are charged with guarding the galaxy when their own stupidity does not cause them to trip over their own two feet. [She puts her hand back at her side, and looks at Philip.] Or destroying part of my lab.

[identity profile] riderpedia.insanejournal.com 2011-12-30 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
[He didn't seem bothered by it at all. She's green, yes, but that's far from the strangest thing he's ever seen. Frankly he's just grateful she hasn't turned into a dinosaur. He chuckles a bit.]

I'm a part of something similar to that myself. Likely on a much smaller scale, but none the less...

[identity profile] coluan.insanejournal.com 2011-12-30 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
It's refreshing to meet a fellow logical being. [And here, she tries to smile, like Cosmic Boy has been encouraging, but it's tiny.] I'm known as Brainiac 5 among my teammates.

[identity profile] riderpedia.insanejournal.com 2011-12-31 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
I agree.

[He loves Shotaro and the others but they're all completely irrational most of the time. But it works for them.]

I'm just.. Philip. I suppose there are other things I could be called but.. none of them quite suit me as well as "Philip".

Would you prefer to be called Brainiac 5? Or Querla? Ms. Dox?

[He's a rather accommodating fellow. Mostly because he's not suited to being alone, and he's trying to befriend as many people as he can. And it would be nice to have someone to research with.]
