...That'd explain it I guess. Still, This had better not be anything dangerous or I'm gonna have to move her from spot 3 to spot 1 on my list of people who's asses I need to kick.

[Nod] I'm an alchemist, but I don't know how to fight though.

[He really had to make sure he stayed on this lady's good side.]

...Does a lower spot make them more of a priority?

Well, I don't know much about Alchemy... But don't worry about fighting. I'll keep that covered.

But if this lady isn't a threat I can wait to give her what's coming until after I've figured out how to get to a certain couple of idiots I know are out in the world somewhere. They've had this coming for a long damned time and now there's people who know where they are.

Oh. [He doubts anything he says would stop her, it seemed she was determined with a goal already in mind.] I don't know if you're going to fight them when you find them...but please be careful.

[She seems a little surprised when she's told to be careful, then laughs and shakes her head.]

It's not like that, kid. They're old friends. I'm just mad at them.

So I'm gonna punch them both when I find them. And then Kisuke will whine like a brat and Yoruichi will probably punch me back and then we'll all have too much to drink.

You worry a lot, don't you? Your big brother that much of a trouble-maker?

Oh, I get it. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have assumed...

Ah no, brother is just...impulsive sometimes and its troublesome. B-but he's not a bad person.

[She smiles and musses his hair.]

Heh... Sounds like my brothers. One time Kaien goes off into the damned mountains and comes back with this boar piglet. Little did he realize that she'd grow up to be massive and hate everyone that wasn't him.

Damn thing's tried to run me down more than once.

[He was extremely shy and wasn't expecting that gesture, but his passive nature makes him stay silent.]

A...boar piglet? [he tilts his head to the side, maybe it would hint that he wasn't familiar with them.]

Y'know... Wild pigs.

Why in the world Kaien thought the stupid thing would make a good pet is beyond me, but him and Ganju love the damn thing, so there's no getting rid of it.

A wild pig does sound extreme for a pet. Do you think it could have been a fondness of it that made your friends want to keep it?

Mostly I think it's that my brothers are just dumb.

But they love her, so as long as she stays out of the workrooms and doesn't blow the house up or run down me and Miyako, I've given up on complaining.

[A small laugh escapes his lips.]

It might grow used to you someday, if you're patient enough.

Heh... Nah. Ganju, maybe but it hates me and Miya-nee. I think it's because she doesn't like other girls gettin' Kaien's attention.

Do you think it could be jealous of other girls? Its an animal, but I think all living things can have feelings like that.

Yeah probably. She's really really attache to Kaien since he found her, and she's never liked me.

And when I first started bringing Miyako home and trying to fix her up with Kaien, Bonnie-chan just wanted no part of her. She was still pretty little then, but Bonnie-chan'd still try and trample her.

Doesn't make much of a difference. Even with how big she got, I could still bring her down with just one arm if I had to. Which I did. Every time I went home.

Y-you took on a wild animal by yourself? You must be really strong.

It sounds like Miyako was lucky to have you around. Did she look up to you?

Gotta be strong to get by in my family. If I can't take on something like Bonnie-chan, how am I supposed to fight bigger, meaner things?

[She frowns a bit and shrugs her good shoulder.]

Me and Miyako sort of looked up to each other. We were partners, even before she was my sister-in-law. I was as lucky to have her as she was to have me.

[Makes sense, considering she had to fight monsters.]

Its nice that you both were close. Even being close to my brother, I always had trouble communicating with him.

....That must be pretty rough.

Ever tried punching him in the head? That usually works with Kaien and Ganju.

[She is completely serious about this.]

[Punch Russell in the head? Sure, he disagreed with things his brother did, but he could never bring himself to do something like that. No matter how stubborn the other was.]

Hit...brother? [He looked up at her nervously] I-I can't do something like that.

He sounds kinda thick-headed. A good punch to the head might do him some good.

Does it make it easier to get people to listen to you?

Well I mean, it works on Kaien and Ganju. And I'd have to punch Kisuke pretty often... but I mean, it's only 'cause I know they could take it. I wouldn't punch Captain or little kids or anything.

But if it's someone like your brother, then it's okay if it's for somethin' really important. If he's that stubborn that he won't listen otherwise, it might be the only way.

[He never thought of that.] Your brothers...did they make bad decisions?
